Jostling and lobbying for the running mate position is going on unabated at the epoch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party. Immediately after the presidential primaries , ambitious individuals have started using the media and other influential people to lobby and catch the eye of the presidential candidate for the prestigious position of running mate.

To this end, a Vice Chairman of the NDC Alhaji Said Sinare has advised former President Mahama not to heed to pressure in choosing a running mate based on religious or ethnic backgrounds, but select a personality who would add value and traction to win the 2020 elections.

“He should take his sweet time to ensure he, together with the council of Elders and other key stakeholders select the best person to partner him to effectively campaign for eventual victory in the next elections,” Alhaji Sinare said.

According to him, it would be politically wrong for lobbyists and other interest groups to put undue pressure on former President Mahama in his choice of running mate. “Nobody in this country should push John Mahama to the wall in who partners him. There’s a lot of work on the ground and the choice of a running mate should be shelfed till January to allow the Presidential candidate embark on a thank you tour in all 275 constituencies.”

He counseled the former President to be resolute and stand on his grounds not to take hasty decision but reflect and come out with a persnality who would add value and traction that would help make victory certain in 2020.

He dismissed the regional and ethnic balance assertions saying, where one comes from doesn’t matter anymore. We want power and we need somebody who can help us win power to deliver the good people from the hell the Akufo Addo government has plunged them into.

Speaking to sharpnewsgh.com in Accra, Alhaji Sinare called for the NDC to intensify its campaign , tour the regions and explain our policies and programs to the people and thereafter embark on a house to house campaign l.

“Things look good because the NPP has not performed and Ghanaianas are dissapointed in them hence the need for the NDC to work hard to dislodge them and offer Ghanaians with hope, progress and true transformation ,” Alhaji Sinare stated
