I have not run away, I would respond to your invitation on Monday – NDC chairmanto Police
Under Pressure National Chairman of the leading opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has responded to the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in clear and loud voice that he has not gone AWOL as suggested in some quarters but would be at the Police Headquarters on Monday at 8:am to answer their curiosity.
The NDC Chairman has been invited by the CID to answer questions bothering on alleged doctored tape. In that tape the Chairman was raising the moral of his party communicators and was telling them what to do to grab victory in the 2020 elections.
In the alleged audio, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was heard outlining plans to fight vigilante groups aligned to the governing New Patriotic Party ahead of the 2020 elections with vigilante groups aligned to the NDC.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo outlined plans to match up against groups from the governing New Patriotic Party ahead of the 2020 elections. His plans also included verbal attacks on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa and also to take to the cleaners and the Chairman of the Peace Council, Professor Emmanuel Asante, among others but this has been denied vehemently by the party’s communications officer Sammy Gyamfi, saying the audio is Doctored.
Addressing supporters of the NDC after a 10.6 Km victory walk organized by the party in Accra,Mr. Ampofo explained his inability to report to the police earlier.
“I have not run away from anybody, on Monday I would face the police and answer their questions at 8:am. Let me assure you that the peaceful Chairman and the peaceful party would respond to their call, though they first invited me via social media whatsapp.”
He hinted that his lawyers had arranged with the police and all is clear for him to storm the police Headquarters on Monday.
Former President Mahama, former appointees, all six defeated aspirants and members of the party joined the walk from Kawukudi to El Wak.
